The Huddersfield Macular Society is one of the many regional groups throughout the UK.
Macular disease or degeneration is a specific eye disease that causes central blindness.
Our Macular disease group in Huddersfield held at the Town Hall is to help, inform and where we can socialise and meet people who have similar eye conditions.
The meetings also include days out to the theatre etc. and guest visitors to entertain and inform us. Our group helps us to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel and we can lead a full and happy life.
The meetings are held on the first Wednesday in the month starting in February of each New Year.
New members are very welcome.
There are many other members who help to keep our society running well. We would like to introduce you to them later, on this Web Site.
So please come along and join us.
For listings of topics to be covered in all of this years meetings, events and trips please see diary dates accessible from the right hand main menu below the Huddersfield Macular link.
LAST MEETING INFORMATION (for information from past meetings please see 'Past Meeting Information' accesible from the left hand menu bar).Macular News!
Hello everyone,
Some up to date information for our Macular members;
Our AGM has been postponed until Wednesday October 7th. On that day there will also be guest speaker Lee Normand the eye clinic liaison officer who has recently taken up the position working for the Huddersfield hospital group. He will introduce himself and inform us of his role and how he may be able to help us.
On Wednesday 4th August our meeting will now be an open one where our members can pass on any useful hints and advice that may help us to manage our lives a little better. Also, one of our members is talking to us about his life as a pilot. We will look forward to that.
On Wednesday 8th September our meeting is cancelled as we are having a day out at Millstones near Harrogate. We have been before and it is always a favourite place for our members. We will be entertained, wined and dined. It will be such a pleasurable experience for us all.
On Saturday18th September it is Macular Awareness Day. Details regarding that will follow in future news items.
Our November meeting held on Wednesday 4th will be about our Christmas Fuddle held on 2nd of December and our Christmas meal outings in that month at the Technical College in Huddersfield.
There is no meeting in January 2011.
Thank you and all best wishes to our members.
